Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 142:
- The main event of CWFC 142 features Sam Creasey defending the flyweight title against Stipe Brcic. Creasey is coming off of a stoppage loss to Luke Shanks, but his opponent missed weight for that fight so he did not lose his title. Prior to that, Creasey had won four straight fights. He has been fighting for CWFC since 2016 and he has been one of the better fighters in the promotion during that time. As for Brcic, this is his CWFC debut after having fought for other European regional shows during his MMA career. While Brcic of course has a chance to win the fight, the defending champion Creasey opened up as the betting favorite for this fight.
- Also on the card is another flyweight belt between Aaron Aby and Michelangelo Lupoli. Aby is 2-1 overall in CWFC since joining the promotion last year. He was fighting for ACB before that, so he has quite a bit of experience while fighting for Europe’s top shows. Lupoli, meanwhile, is making his CWFC debut in this fight after having won his last two bouts. Lupoli is a bit of a wild card here, but Aby should be the betting favorite due to his experience fighting for CWFC, and the oddsmakers indeed opened him up as a big favorite.
