Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 47:
- Dana White’s Contender Series Season 6 is set to begin, so the next wave of UFC stars are set to get their chance to earn their spots on the UFC roster. At the top of the card is a middleweight bout between Ozzy Diaz and Joseph Pyfer. Diaz recently won the vacant LFA middleweight title and overall he is riding a five-fight win streak with all of the wins coming by stoppage. As for Pyfer, he is a DWCS vet who lost via injury TKO to Dustin Stoltzfus back in August 2020. Two years later and having won one fight in between, Pyfer now gets another chance to join the UFC roster. After Diaz opened up as the favorite, the odds quickly flipped and now Pyfer is a small favorite to win the fight and earn a contract for the UFC roster.
- Also on the card is a bantamweight bout between Farid Basharat and Willian Souza. Basharat is the brother of the current UFC bantamweight Javid Basharat. He is unbeaten in his MMA career at 8-0 and most of his wins have come by stoppage. As for his opponent, Souza is the Jungle Fight bantamweight champion who has won his last 11 fights in a row after losing his UFC debut. This should be a good fight, one where Basharat enters as the favorite.
