Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 58 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 58 is a five-round lightweight bout between top-10 ranked lightweights Rafael dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev. Dos Anjos is the former 155lbs champion and even at age 37 he is still having a lot of success as of late with back-to-back wins over Renato Moicano and Paul Felder. As for Fiziev, he has been on a roll as of late as well, as he’s won his last five fights in a row after losing his UFC debut. Both fighters are fantastic so this should be an awesome fight. Despite RDA having more experience, it’s Fiziev who opened up as the betting favorite for this bout, likely because he has more momentum heading into the fight.
- As for the co-main event, it’s a middleweight bout between Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan. Borralho is coming off of a technical decision win over Gadzhi Omargadzhiev, while Petrosyan defeated Gregory Rodrigues in his UFC debut. Both fighters are very talented and it feels like the winner will get a big push from the UFC. Borralho opened as the betting favorite, but the line has come down since opening as this appears to be a competitive bout on paper.
