Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 57 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 57 features top-15 ranked lightweights Arman Tsarukyan and Mateusz Gamrot going against each other. Both fighters have been on an absolute tear as of late, and the winner of this contest will undoubtedly be deserving of a step up in competition against someone in the top-10 at 155lbs. Tsarukyan has shown he has dominant wrestling and he has the ability to finish the fight with his nasty ground and pound. As for Gamrot, he is very well-rounded and can finish his foes both on the feet and on the ground. This is definitely going to be a competitive fight, but with Tsarukyan being the better wrestler on paper, he opened up as a small favorite for what should be a fantastic main event between two studs.
- As for the co-main event, Shavkat Rakhmonov gets a step up when he takes on perennial top-10 welterweight contender Neil Magny. Rakhmonov has been absolutely lighting up his opponents so far during his UFC run, but Magny is the toughest test he’s had to date. It should be very interesting to see how this fight plays out between two of the top contenders at 170lbs.
