Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Austin Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Austin is a five-round featherweight bout between top-10 ranked featherweights Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett. Kattar is coming off of a fantastic upset win over Giga Chikadze in his last fight to bounce back from a brutal loss to Max Holloway. As for Emmett, he has won his last four fights in a row and he hasn’t lost in over four years. Kattar looked incredible against Chikadze, but Emmett has also shown incredible striking throughout his UFC career. This is such a fantastic featherweight fight, and the winner will likely be close to getting a title shot. Kattar is the slight favorite, but Emmett of course has the skills to win.
- Also on the card is a welterweight bout between fan favorite and Texas native Kevin Holland and veteran Tim Means. Holland dropped down to welterweight in his last fight and he knocked out Alex Oliveira in an impressive fashion. As for Means, he has won his last three fights. This should be a very exciting matchup between two fighters who don’t mind standing and trading. Holland is the favorite, but don’t count out the crafty Means from winning this fight.
