Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 275 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 275 is a light heavyweight title bout between champion Glover Teixeira and challenger Jiri Prochazka. Teixeira has won his last six fights in a row, including five of those fights by finish, and he’s coming off of a submission win over former champ Jan Blachowicz in his last outing. At age 42, Teixeira is one of the oldest UFC champions of all time, but he is still one of the best 205ers in the world due to his elite ground game. However, he will be going up against one of the division’s top strikers in Prochazka, who has knocked out Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir during his UFC career. Prochazka only has two UFC fights, but due to his youth advantage (he’s only 29) and his incredible win streak (he’s won his last 12 fights in a row in his MMA career), he enters this fight as the betting favorite.
- As for the co-main event, it’s UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko against Taila Santos. Shevchenko has won her last eight fights in a row and she has looked unstoppable at 125lbs. However, Santos is 4-1 in the UFC and appears to be very talented herself. Although Santos has potential, Shevchenko is the clear favorite to defend her title.
