Here are my quick thoughts on the Eagle FC 47:
- The main event of Eagle FC 47 is a heavyweight bout between UFC veterans Junior dos Santos and Yorgan de Castro. Now 38 years old, Dos Santos hasn’t fought since December 2020 when he lost via TKO to Ciryl Gane and was subsequently released by the UFC. He has lost his last four fights, all by knockout, but all of the losses came against top-10 fighters in the UFC heavyweight division. His chin is definitely not what it used to be, but he’ll be facing lesser competition in Eagle FC. That being said, De Castro is no slouch himself. Although he went only 1-3 in the UFC, he has won two straight fights since then. He’s only 34 so he’s slightly younger here, too. Dos Santos is the favorite, but De Castro has a puncher’s chance.
- Also on the card is a light heavyweight bout between UFC vets Thiago Silva and Hector Lombard. Silva hasn’t fought since 2019 and at age 39 he is not the same fighter he once was back in his prime. As for Lombard, he is 44 and he has lost his last six MMA fights. However, he has been staying active in BKFC since then. Silva opened up as the favorite, but some early money has come back in on Lombard and the fight is now essentially a Pick ’em.
