Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 131:
- The main event of LFA 131 sees the vacant bantamweight title go on the line between Daniel Argueta and Diego Silva. Argueta is a perfect 7-0 in MMA and he has four previous wins under the LFA banner. He did compete on TUF 29 and he lost a decision to Ricky Turcios, who went on to win the show, but Argueta has won both of his fights since then in LFA. Although Argueta was not signed by the UFC immediately following TUF, he has looked great in LFA since then, and if he wins the vacant bantamweight title, there is a good chance that he will be signed by the UFC. As for Silva, he has won his last two fights, including a decision win over former UFC fighter Andre Soukhamthath. Although Silva is not well-known by most fans in North America, he does have solid experience fighting all over the world. Still, Argueta is the more proven fighter, and based on how good he has looked as of late, you have to lean his way here.
- As for the co-main event, it’s a middleweight bout between Tim Hiley and Darrius Flowers. Hiley has a 2-2 record in LFA previously, while Flowers is 3-1 in LFA. Flowers actually just won two weeks ago, but the odds opened up as just a Pick ’em given the short turnaround for him.
