Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL 2022: Week 2:

  • This week’s PFL card features heavyweights and featherweights. The main event of PFL 2022: Week 2 sees last season’s heavyweight champ Bruno Cappelozza taking on Stuart Austin. Cappelozza had an absolutely incredible season as he defeated Ante Delija twice, Mo DeReese, and Jamelle Jones en route to capturing the $1 million grand prize. He showed exceptional striking skills in the PFL and he is the odds-on favorite to win the championship for a second straight season. To start off this year’s regular season, Cappelozza fights Austin, who was knocked out by Renan Ferreira in his PFL debut last year. Austin actually holds a submission win over current UFC heavyweight standout Tom Aspinall. Despite that win in 2015, he hasn’t accomplished much since then, and Cappelozza is the clear favorite here.
  • Also on the card is a featherweight bout between Brendan Loughnane and Ryoji Kudo. Loughnane won his first four PFL fights before dropping a split decision to eventual champion Movlid Khaybulaev in the semifinals. As for Kudo, he is a veteran of ONE Championship and Shooto who is making his PFL debut in this fight. Although Kudo is fairly experienced, Loughnane is by far the best opponent that he’s ever fought. Considering Kudo is fairly unknown, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Loughnane is the clear favorite to win this fight.
