Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 51 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 51 is a five-round welterweight bout between Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad. These two previously met in 2016, with Luque winning the fight by knockout. Since then, both men have achieved quite a bit of success inside the Octagon as they are both now ranked in the top-5 at 170lbs. Both guys are very good fighters and both men have improved a lot since their first meeting. However, I still think Luque is the better fighter, and he deservingly opened as a -210 betting favorite for this rematch. Given that he won the first fight and has been mostly doing nothing but winning since then, he should be favored. That being said, Muhammad can make this interesting if he can wrestle effectively.
- The co-main event is a middleweight bout between Gadzhi Omargadzhiev and Caio Borralho. Both guys are coming off of wins on Dana White’s Contender Series and are making their UFC debuts in this spot. Both guys are very impressive prospects and this should be a great fight, albeit a weak co-main event for any UFC card. It’s pretty close to a Pick ’em type of fight.
