Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 123:
- The main event of LFA 123 is a bantamweight bout between Daniel Argueta and Mairon Santos. Argueta is a perfect 6-0 as a pro and he has a perfect 3-0 record in LFA dating back to 2019. You may remember Argueta from The Ultimate Fighter 29, where he lost a spirited decision to eventual winner Ricky Turcios. The UFC didn’t pick up Argueta following the show, but it’s certainly possible he could make it to the UFC if he picks up a few more wins in LFA. As for Santos, he is a perfect 12-0 in his MMA career, also dating back to 2019. This is certainly not an easy fight to call. While Argueta is a very good prospect, Santos has a lot of experience and he has the ability to finish fights anywhere they go. This should be a great fight, and if the winner takes home the victory in impressive fashion, the UFC could call them.
- Also on the card is a bantamweight bout between Askar Askar and Ryskulbek Ibraimov. Askar has a 2-2 record in LFA dating back to 2018. He has always been considered on the cusp of the UFC but hasn’t made it yet. As for Ibraimov, he has been a pro for nearly a decade, though he hasn’t fought a high level of competition. Based on that alone, you have to favor Askar.
