Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 46 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 46 is a featherweight bout between top-10 ranked fighters Giga Chikadze and Calvin Kattar. Starting with Chikadze, he has won seven straight fights inside the Octagon and he is riding a nine-fight win streak overall. In his last fight, Chikadze picked up the biggest win of his UFC career to date when he knocked out Edson Barboza, and he will be looking to build on that career-best win here against Kattar. For Kattar, this fight marks a full year since he lost in a historic lopsided beating to Max Holloway. Due to the amount of damage that Kattar took in that fight, his team wanted him to take time off and recover. Kattar has taken a full year off and he will look to bounce back with a win over Chikadze. That being said, it will be an uphill climb for Kattar, and Chikadze opened up as the clear favorite here.
- The co-main event was originally set to be Muslim Salikhov vs. Michel Pereira at welterweight, but Salikhov pulled out and Andre Fialho stepped up on short notice. Unfortunately, COVID-19 protocols scratched the replacement fight and now the rematch between Jennifer Maia and Katlyn Chookagian at women’s 125lbs was elevated to the co-main event spot in its place.
