Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 121:
- The main event of LFA 121 is a lightweight bout between Aaron McKenzie and Joshua Jones. Both fighters are Bellator veterans who are looking to punch their ticket to the UFC with a big win in LFA. For McKenzie, he is fighting in LFA for the fourth time after having won his previous 3 fights. Overall, McKenzie has won six of his last seven fights, including a notable win in LFA over UFC veteran Joe Giannetti. As for Jones, he is coming off of back-to-back wins in Bellator. Both guys are experienced, but McKenzie seems like the better fighter and so him being favored to win the fight makes sense. Look for the winner to get signed by the UFC.
- As for the co-main event, it’s another lightweight bout between Elijah Johns (brother of UFC fighter Miles Johns) and Brandon Phillips (no relation to the former MLB star). Johns is coming off of a loss to current UFC fighter Bruno Souza, but he had won five straight before that. As for Phillips, he is an experienced fighter but he lost to McKenzie in his last fight. Johns being favored makes sense here, too. If Johns gets his hand raised, as the oddsmakers expect him to, I could see him getting a UFC contract.
