Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 273:
- The main event of Bellator 273 features the heavyweight title on the line between champion Ryan Bader and interim champ Valentin Moldavsky. Bader is coming off of a quick TKO loss to Corey Anderson but it was at light heavyweight, where he has been chinnier. Back at heavyweight, Bader should be more durable so he should be more competitive. Then again, Moldavsky is a beast who is on a long win streak and who just won the interim belt in his last fight. It makes sense why Moldavsky is the favorite given the recent poor form of Bader, but that was at 205lbs. At heavyweight, Bader could still have some gas left. With the line reaching -350 and +260 in favorite of Moldavsky, this could be a spot to take a shot on the dog Bader.
- In the co-main event, it’s a battle of two solid lightweights when Benson Henderson takes on Islam Mamedov. Henderson has lost three straight fights to Brent Primus, Jason Jackson, and Michael Chandler, so despite the losing skid, at least it’s been against good competition. Mamedov, meanwhile, is 20-1-1 and he’s coming off of a big win over Primus. Mamedov is in the prime of his career right now and he should be able to get by Henderson and win this fight.
