Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 131:
- The main event of Cage Warriors 131 sees Cage Warriors middleweight champion Matthew Bonner taking on challenger Djati Melan. Bonner has won his last four fights in a row and hew on the middleweight bout with a stoppage win over Nathaniel Frederick in his last fight. At age 30, Bonner has won six of his last seven fights and he has looked phenomenal as of late. As for Melan, he is unbeaten at 7-0 and he is fighting for the first time in two years. Melan is a good prospect and he has a good chance to win this fight. This looks like it’s dog-or-pass.
- As for the co-main event, it features George Hardwick against Mehdi Ben Lakhdhar fighting for the vacant Cage Warriors lightweight title. Hardwick has won his last four fights in a row in CWFC and in Bellator, while Lakhdhar is undefeated in his MMA career. This looks like another competitive title fight in Cage Warriors, but Hardwick has fought better competition overall and he should be favored to win this fight. That being said, Lakhdhar is a very talented fighter himself and he certainly has the tools needed in order to pull off the upset.
