Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 44 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 44 is an excellent bantamweight scrap between top contender Rob Font and Jose Aldo. Font has won his last four fights in a row, including a decision win over Cody Garbrandt earlier this year. As for Aldo, he has won his last two straight fights over Marlon Vera and Pedro Munhoz. This looks like a great fight on paper between two of the best fighters in the world at 135lbs. The oddsmakers opened it as basically a Pick ’em, and that seems about right as both men match up well against each other in this particular matchup.
- The co-main event of UFC Vegas 44 sees lightweight contenders Brad Riddell and Rafael Fiziev square off. Riddell has won all four of his UFC fights so far and he has won his last seven straight fights overall. As for Fiziev, he is 4-1 overall in the UFC. This should be an incredible fight between two lightweights who are making a move up the UFC’s 155lbs ladder. The bookies opened Riddell as a short favorite here, and the odds have remained tight heading into fight week as Fiziev is also getting plenty of respect from the betting public.
