Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 43 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 42 is a women’s bantamweight bout set for five rounds between Ketlen Vieira and Miesha Tate. Vieira is one of the top-ranked fighters at 135lbs right now but she is coming off of two losses in her last three outings and doesn’t appear to be the top contender that we thought she may have been at one point in time. As for Tate, she recently returned from a long layoff to put up a great showing against Marion Reneau with a late finish. Vieira opened as a small favorite, but early money has come in on Tate making this a Pick ’em.
- The co-main event of UFC Vegas 42 features welterweight contenders Sean Brady and Michael Chiesa going at it for three rounds or less. Brady has looked phenomenal so far in the UFC as he’s won his last four fights in a row, while Chiesa is coming off of a submission loss to Vicente Luque. Chiesa is a really good fighter but it feels like Brady could be a bad stylistic matchup for him due to his submission skills. As such, Brady is a small favorite to win the fight.
