Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 271:
- The main event of Bellator 271 sees women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg put her belt on the line against Sinead Kavanagh. Cyborg is 36 now but she continues to be firing on all cylinders, having won her last four straight fights. Since joining Bellator in 2020, Cyborg is a perfect 3-0 with three knockouts and she looks unstoppable in the promotion. After smashing Leslie Smith in her last outing, Cyborg takes on Kavanagh in this contest. Kavanagh is just 4-4 in Bellator, however, and she appears to be in over her head in this fight. Although Kavanagh is very tough and may be able to survive until the later rounds, eventually I see Cyborg pouring on the damage and forcing the referee to stop the contest due to unanswered blows.
- The co-main event is a heavyweight bout between Tyrell Fortune and Linton Vassell. Fortune is unbeaten over his last four fights and he is coming off of a TKO win over Matt Mitrione in his last outing. As for Vassell, he is coming off of two straight TKO wins himself. On paper this is one of the closest fights on the card to call, but Fortune’s wrestling skills make him the favorite.
