Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 117:
- The main event of LFA 117 is a bantamweight bout between UFC veteran Michinori Tanaka and Ricardo Dias. Tanaka fought in the UFC from 2014 to 2017, going 2-3 overall in the Octagon before being released. Since being cut by the UFC, Tanaka has won both of his fights, including a rear-naked choke submission win over current UFC fighter Rogerio Bontorin. As for Dias, he is a Kings MMA product who has won his last three fights in a row by stoppage, including in his last two performances for LFA. Dias is a decent fighter in his own right but he has been submitted several times in his losses, and Tanaka has excellent submissions. That’s why Tanaka is such a big favorite in this fight according to the bookies.
- As for the co-main event, we have Mark Climaco taking on Yuma Horiuchi in a flyweight fight. Climaco is only 23 years old and he is unbeaten as a professional MMA fighter with a 6-0 record. He is an American Kickboxing Academy product and has won his last three fights in a row in LFA. As for Horiuchi, he has quite a bit of experience but he’s lost three of his last four fights, albeit all by split decision. Given he’s undefeated, Climaco deserves his favorite status.
