Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 44:
- The main event of DWCS 44 is a welterweight bout between Jonny Parsons and Solomon Renfro. Parsons has won his last four fights in a row including his last three in a row by knockout. He is a veteran of the California regional circuit and holds a notable knockout win over UFC veteran Shonie Carter. As for Renfro, he is coming off of back-to-back stoppage wins and his only career loss came against new UFC fighter Mike Malott, who won on Contender Series two weeks ago. The betting odds opened as a Pick ’em for this fight but the early betting action has come in on Renfro, who appears to be the better grappler.
- The co-main event of DWCS 44 is a women’s strawweight bout between Piera Rodriguez and Valesca Machado. Rodriguez has won all six of her pro MMA fights, including five of them by stoppage, and she beat Svetlana Gotsyk in LFA in her last fight to win the promotion’s 115lbs belt. As for Machado, she has won six straight fights, including her last four fights by knockout. Everything points to Rodriguez being the better fighter and she is more proven so she deserves to be the favorite here as the oddsmakers opened up the odds like.
- Overall, it should be another fun DWCS card, and hopefully, some new prospects emerge.
