Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 269:
- The main event of Bellator 269 features heavyweight MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko taking on Tim Johnson. At age 45, Emelianenko is one of the oldest fighters on the Bellator roster, but he is still winning fights. Heading into this fight, Emelianenko has won three of his last four bouts, including a knockout win over Quinton Jackson in December 2019. As for Johnson, he has also won three of his last four fights, including a decision defeat to Emelianenko’s younger teammate Valentin Moldavsky in his last outing. Johnson is an underrated heavyweight who packs a punch, but he is going in there against an absolute legend in Emelianenko, and I don’t agree with Johnson opening as the favorite here. Even though Emelianenko is getting up there in age, he is still one of the all-time greats, and the early money has come in on the legend.
- As for the co-main event, it appears to be a mismatch as former Bellator heavyweight champion Vitaly Minakov fights Said Sowma. Minakov has only lost one fight in his entire career and he is coming off of a KO win over Johnson in his last fight in August 2019. As for Sowma, he KOed Ronny Markes in his last fight, but this is a big step up in competition. As such, you see Minakov open as the big favorite here, and for good reason.
