Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 39:
- The main event sees undefeated prospect Nasrudin Nasrudinov take on Jailton Junior at 205lbs. The 29-year-old Nasrudinov has been a pro since 2013 and has won all nine of his fights, including a win over UFC veteran Cory Hendricks. As for Junior, he is a 30-year-old Brazilian who has been a pro since 2012. He comes into DWCS on an eight-fight win streak, including wins over UFC alum Edlando Oliveira and Ildemar Alcantara. Overall this looks like a competitive fight between two fighters with finishing abilities, but the undefeated Nasrudinov deserves his favorite status. That being said, Junior could very well prove to be a live dog.
- The co-main event sees Mo Miller take on Brandon Lewis in a bantamweight bout. The 29-year-old Miller has been a pro since 2019 and has won all five of his pro bouts, which includes experience in LFA. As for Lewis, he is also 5-0 as a pro with previous LFA experience and is just 24 years old. Miller opened up as a decent-sized favorite here but Lewis is definitely someone not to overlook this week despite the odds. After all, he’s also undefeated, so this line does seem a bit high despite the hype on Miller. As we saw again on last week’s edition of DWCS, there are a lot of upsets on this show just due to the unfamiliarity of the fighters.
