Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 35 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 35 is a featherweight barnburner between top-10 ranked fighters Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze. These two men are strikers by trade and this fight should be very exciting for the fans as long as it lasts. Starting with Barboza, he is 2-1 since dropping down to 145lbs, with wins over Shane Burgos and Makwan Amirkhani and his lone loss in the weight class coming against Dan Ige. As for Chikadze, he is riding a six-fight win streak in the Octagon with back-to-back stoppage wins over Cub Swanson and Jamey Simmons in his last two fights. Barboza opened up as a small favorite here, but look for Chikadze to get plenty of respect as this should be a competitive fight between strikers.
- Also on this card is a welterweight bout between Kevin Lee and Daniel Rodriguez. Lee hasn’t fought since last March when he lost to current UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliviera, and he is moving back up to welterweight to take on Rodriguez, who has won five of his six fights in the Octagon. Lee opened as a small favorite, but Rodriguez is a live dog here.
- Also featured on this card are TUF 29 finals in the middleweight and bantamweight divisions.
