Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL 2021: Week 8 Opening Odds:
- The main event of PFL 8 features Kayla Harrison taking on Genah Fabian in a women’s lightweight semifinal bout. Harrison has been absolutely dominant so far in MMA and in the PFL, having won all 10 of her professional MMA fights since turning pro a few years ago. Harrison’s grappling is out of this world and in this season she has utilized her incredible ground game to destroy both Cindy Dandois and Mariana Morais. At this point, it looks like Harrison won’t lose in PFL, and in this next matchup she takes on Genah Fabian, who is a huge underdog. Fabian has won three straight fights and seems like a solid fighter in her own right at 155lbs, but against Harrison, it’s hard to see her being able to stop the takedowns.
- The co-main event of PFL 8 features a men’s heavyweight semifinal fight as Bruno Cappelozza takes on Jamelle Jones. Cappelozza just knocked out Mo DeReese and Ante Delija in devastating fashion to become the No. 1 seed in the heavyweight tournament, while Jones is coming off of a knockout win over Klidson Abreu. This should be a good fight for as long as it lasts, as someone will likely get KOed. Cappelozza is the favorite to win this fight but don’t count out Jones, who has tons of experience including TUF and the Contender Series.
- This card features the semifinals of the women’s lightweight and men’s heavyweight brackets.
