Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 265 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 265 is an interim heavyweight title bout between top contenders Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis. With UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou not ready to go for August, the UFC decided to make the controversial decision to book this interim title fight. While I don’t agree with a belt being on the line, I still love this matchup and am excited to see how it plays out. Gane is a perfect 6-0 in the UFC and is coming off of a win over Alexander Volkov in his last fight, while Lewis is riding a four-fight win streak with a KO win over Curtis Blaydes his last time out. This should be a great fight, with Gane opening as a big favorite.
- The co-main event of UFC 265 features two of the top bantamweights in the sport going at it when Jose Aldo fights Pedro Munhoz. Aldo is coming off of a decision win over Marlon Vera, while Munhoz most recently defeated Jimmie Rivera. This should be a phenomenal fight for as long as it lasts as both Aldo and Munhoz have no problem standing and trading for the fans every time we see them step into the Octagon.
