Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 262
- The main event of Bellator 262 sees the promotion’s dominant 125lbs champion Juliana Velasquez take on challenger Denise Kielholtz. The 34-year-old Velasquez is a perfect 11-0 in MMA and is a perfect 6-0 in MMA. In her last fight, she defeated former champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane to take the title in what was a very impressive performance. For her first title defense, Velasquez will put her title on the line when she takes on Kielholtz, who is 6-2 overall in MMA, including a 6-1 mark in Bellator since making the transition from kickboxing to mixed martial arts. Kielholtz has won her last four straight fights and is showing that she is becoming a true MMA fighter with submission wins to go along with knockouts. That being said, the champ Velasquez opened as a big favorite here, giving her plenty of respect as the champ.
- The co-main event is a heavyweight bout between Tyrell Fortune and Matt Mitrione. Fortune is 10-1, 1 NC overall in Bellator and he has won his last two fights in a row. As for Mitrione, he is 4-3, 1 NC overall in his Bellator run. At age 43 and having not won a fight since 2018, though, “Meathead” finds himself as a sizeable underdog against Fortune despite more experience.
