Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 125:
- The main event of CWFC 125 features Ian Garry (6-0) and Jack Grant (17-6) battling it out for the vacant welterweight title. Garry turned pro in 2019 and since then he has won all six of his fights, with his last five wins coming by way of stoppage. The last time we saw Garry earlier this year, he knocked out UFC veteran Rostem Akman to get this crack at the vacant title. He now takes on Grant, who has won two of his last three fights entering this bout. Grant has bounced around at welterweight and lightweight but seems to be committed to 170lbs going forward. Although the 29-year-old Grant is a quality fighter with plenty of CWFC experience, we have seen him lost before, whereas Garry has never lost before, so he opened as the favorite. Keep your eye on Garry here as he seems like a really good prospect at 155lbs.
- The co-main event features lightweights Decky McAleenan (7-3-1) and Stevie McIntosh (6-2). The 29-year-old McAleenan is unbeaten over his last three fights heading into this matchup, while McIntosh has won three of his last four outings. This should be an interesting fight but the sportsbooks opened up McAleenan as the favorite, likely based on being a bit hotter as of late and having more professional experience, but it should be a competitive fight either way.
