Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 123:
- The main event of Cage Warriors 123 sees CWFC middleweight champion Nathias Frederick (9-2-1) take on Matthew Bonner (9-6-1). The 38-year-old Frederick hasn’t lost in his last 10 fights and is coming off of back-to-back knockout wins in CWFC title fights. He has been stumping for a chance to fight in the UFC and if he can win this fight there is a chance he could get a shot in the big show. Frederick puts his belt on the line when he takes on Bonner. The 30-year-old Bonner has won his last three fights in a row and has proven to be super durable during his career, having not been stopped in any of his six losses. It will be interesting to see if Frederick can land the KO blow and if he doesn’t if Bonner can pull off the upset.
- The co-main event is a middleweight bout between Chris Duncan (3-0) and Will Curie (5-1). This is a rematch after the two fought back in March and Ducan won via second-round TKO. After a long amateur MMA career, Duncan turned pro last year and he’s since won all three of his fights by TKO. As for Currie, he is just 22 and has been fighting as a pro for three years. Coming off the first loss of his career, it will be interesting to see if Currie can bounce back.
