Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL 2021: Week 3 Opening Odds:
- PFL is back this week for another installment of its regular-season fights, this time featuring the heavyweights and women’s lightweights. The first PFL card featured a number of upsets but last week we were back to normal with all chalk winning. This is another card featuring a mix of huge favorites and some closely-lined fights, so let’s dive in and take a look at it.
- The main event features former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (24-9-1) taking on Renan Ferreira (6-2). Werdum is coming off of a submission win over Alexander Gustafsson in his last fight in a matchup that many felt he would lose. But even at age 43, he is still winning fights and has to be the favorite to win this heavyweight tournament. In this regular season bout he takes on Ferreira, who is coming off of a TKO win over current UFC fighter Jared Vanderaa in LFA. However, he is coming into this bout off of a long layoff and faces an uphill climb here against Werdum, who is still an elite grappler in MMA and the PFL.
- The other prominent fight on this card features Kayla Harrison (8-0) against Mariana Morais (10-6). Harrison has been absolutely thrashing everyone in her path in the PFL and she’s a monster favorite here against Morais, a solid veteran fighter who has a ton of experience in the fight game, but who will be out of her element going up against a strong grappler like Harrison.
