Here are my quick thoughts on the ONE on TNT 3 Opening Odds:
- ONE Championship is back this Wednesday night with another card on TNT. This one features former UFC star John Lineker (33-9) against Troy Worthen (7-1) in a 145lbs contest. After leaving the UFC following a split decision loss to Cory Sandhagen in 2019, Lineker joined ONE Championship as a free agent and quickly won back-to-back fights over Muin Gafurov and Kevin Belingon. Lineker still has his trademark knockout power and he has the potential to put on a show anytime. He is not far removed from beating fighters such as Marlon Vera in the Octagon, and I think he would still be a top-15 fighter if he was still on the UFC roster. In this fight, Lineker takes on Worthen, who most recently dropped a decision to Yusup Saadulaev for his first career defeat. Prior to that loss, Worthen was unbeaten as a pro. While anyone has a chance in MMA, it’s hard to see Lineker losing to Worthen. Lineker should get another TKO.
- The other MMA fight on this card features Yuya Wakamatsu (13-4) against Reece McLaren (14-7). Wakamatsu has won three straight fights in ONE Championship and he has a wealth of experience fighting in some of Asia’s top promotions, including Pancrase. He also has a submission loss to Demetrious Johnson. As for McLaren, he is also coming off of two straight wins under the ONE banner. The oddsmakers favored Wakamatsu and that seems right to me.
