Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 105:
- The main event of LFA 105 features Svetlana Gotsyk (13-4) and Piera Rodriguez (5-0) go at it for the LFA women’s strawweight title. With an impressive victory, it’s possible that the winner of this fight could be signed to the UFC, so there is a lot on the line between these two strawweights. The 24-year-old Gotsyk an American Top Team product who has won her last three fights in a row. She is a Ukrainian fighter who has a surprising wealth of international experience, including a knockout loss to Weili Zhang in 2016. She appears to be a very good prospect and it will be good to see her fight in the United States. As for the 28-year-old Rodriguez, she has won all five of her pro fights since starting her career in 2017. This looks like a close fight but due to Gotsyk having more experience she opened up as the favorite.
- The co-main event features featherweights Jake Childers (8-1) and Canaan Kawaihae (5-1). The 32-year-old Childers won the first eight fights of his pro career before getting knocked out by Justin Gonzales in his last outing. As for the 23-year-old Kawaihae, he is coming off of a win in Bellator in his last fight in 2018. He fought on Dana White’s Contender Series that same year, losing a decision to current UFC talent Chase Hooper. Overall this looks like a close matchup on paper but Childers is the favorite, likely due to him having more experience.
