Hispanic MMA promotion Combate Americas in association with Tuff-N-Uff hosts the event Combate 42 at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey’s in Lake Tahoe, Nevada on Friday, August 23, 2019 at  9 p.m. ET live on DAZN, with prelims streamed live on Facebook. The promotion also will hold a Combate 43 event in Mexicali, Mexico on September 20.

Combate 42 features a pair of title fights in the headlining bouts in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

The main event of Combate 42 features  a rematch of Gustavo Lopez and Joey Ruquet for the 135 lb. title. Lopez (10-4-1) has fought under the Combate banner eight times over the past four years, sporting a 6-2 record under the promotion, including a 2015 submission victory over Ruquet. Lopez most recently avenged a loss to Jose Alday, earning a first round TKO victory at Combate 33 in March. Ruquet (7- 2) has fought under the Combate Americas banner in his last seven bouts, going 5-2 in the promotion. He most recently earned a unanimous decision over Alan Cantu Garcia at Combate 35 in April.

The co-main event features a featherweight title bout between Andres Quintana and veteran Bruno Cannetti. Quintana (18-2), an Ultimate Fighter veteran, has won eight consecutive bouts, all under the Combate Americas banner. He most recently won three bouts in one night at Combate 29 in December of 2018, which included a first round TKO of Cannetti. Cannetti (8-6) has gone 2-1 under the Combate banner, with his fight being the loss to Quintana. Prior to that, Cannetti was riding a four-fight winning streak, including a first round TKO against event headliner Ruquet in the first round of the one-night tournament this past December.

The main event of Combate 43 is a lightweight title bout between Rafa Garcia and Erick Gonzalez. Garcia (10-0) is one of the top prospects in the Combate promotion, winning all six of his fights under the Combate banner. He most recently defeated UFC veteran Estevan Payan via first round rear naked choke at Combate 39 in June. Gonzalez (10-3) has gone 5-2 with the Combate promotion and is currently riding a two-fight winning streak. He most recently scored a TKO victory over Won Sik Pak at Combate 36 in April.
