Hispanic MMA promotion Combate Americas hosts the event Combate 38: Combate Peru at the Coliseo Manuel Bonilla in Lima, Peru on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 9 p.m. ET live on DAZN, with prelims streamed live on Facebook. The main event of the 10-bout card features a lightweight matchup between Daniel Zellhuber and Gian Franco Cortez.
Zellhuber (7-0), of Mexico, has won both of his fights under the Combate banner, most recently finishing Salvador Izar with knees in the clinch and ground and pound in the second round at Combate 28 last November. Cortez (4-0), of Peru, is making his Combate Americas debut. He most recently knocked out Steven Munoz in just 95 seconds at ACC 45 in Peru this past March.
The co-main event features a pair of veteran lightweights as Peru’s Marlon Gonzalez takes on Pablo Villaseca of Chile. Gonzalez (14-4-2) lost a unanimous decision to Andres Quintana in his Combate Americas debut in December. Villaseca (14-5) has gone 1-1 under the Combate Americas banner, most recently losing a decision to Alejandro Flores at Combate 29 in December.
