UFC on ESPN+ 2 took place Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Fortaleza, Brazil. The card was headlined by a top five bantamweight clash between Raphael Assuncao and Marlon Moraes.

Favorites that Won

Marlon Moraes dropped Raphael Assuncao in the opening round. After landing some big punches in ground and pound, he synced in a choke to force Assuncao to tap. With the win, Moraes is likely headed for a title shot in his next bout. Moraes closed -155 with Assuncao closing +125

Jose Aldo proved once again why he’s one of the best fighters of all time when he out struck Renato Moicano on the feet forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight in the second round. Aldo closed -120. Moicano closed -110

Demian Maia quickly took Lyman Good to the mat and once he got on his back it was just a matter of when that he would submit him. He did so midway through round one. Maia closed -212 while Good closed +172

Charles Oliveira had one of the best performances of his illustrious career as he out struck David Teymur, hurt him in the second round with a spinning strike, and then secured a submission for yet another stoppage victory. Oliveira closed -125. Teymur closed -105

Johnny Walker landed a spinning punch in the opening seconds and followed up on the ground with punches to put Justin Ledet away just 15 seconds into the opening round. Walker closed -230 with the return on Ledet +180

Livia Renata Souza employed a grappling heavy attack that won her the first two rounds to win a split decision in a difficult bout with Sarah Frota. Souza closed -240 while Frota closed +190

Geraldo de Freitas had little problem with Felipe Colares. De Freitas dominated the striking exchanges and was able to chain that striking with takedowns throughout the fight to win each round and be awarded a decision. De Freitas closed -132 with the return on Colares +102

 

Underdogs that Won

In an entertaining fight, Markus Perez landed a tremendous body kick to put Anthony Hernandez in trouble. Perez then took him to the mat and was able to secure a submission win in the second round. Perez closed +110 while Hernandez closed -140

Mara Romero Borella utilized a grappling heavy gameplan slowing down the attack of talented striker Taila Santos. It worked as Borella won a decision on all cards. Borella closed +179. Santos closed -224

After being saved by the bell at the end of round one, Thiago Alves outworked Max Griffin over the final two rounds to edge out a split decision in his hometown. Alves closed +160 while Griffin closed -190

After dropping the opening round, Jair Rozenstruik defended the takedown well in the second round and countered Junior Albini with punches and a devastating head kick which sent Albini to the mat. Rozenstruik followed up with punches to win by knockout. Rozenstruik closed +120. Albini closed -150

Said Nurmagomedov landed a spinning body kick that sent Ricardo Ramos backwards. Nurmagomedov continued to push and earned the first round stoppage. Nurmagomedov closed +150 while Ramos closed -180

In a very close fight, Rogerio Bontorin secured a late takedown to finish with dominant position and that was enough to edge out a split decision over Magomed Bibulatov. Bontorin closed +247 while Bibulatov closed -307
