UFC on FX 7 Picks: Middleweight Fight Daniel Sarafian (-170) vs. CB Dollaway (+140)

C.B. DollawayUFC on FX 7 Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil Saturday, January 19, 2013 Middleweights: Daniel Sarafian (-170) vs. CB Dollaway (+140) Fight Breakdown: The co-main event of UFC on FX 7 sees “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” standout Daniel Sarafian make his official UFC debut against former TUF finalist CB Dollaway in a three-round middleweight bout. Sarafian (7-2) made it to the finals of TUF Brazil, but he got injured and never got to fight in the finals. Now healthy, he’s a talented prospect, and the UFC must be really high on him if they’re giving him a co-main event slot. The 30-year-old Brazilian is a very powerful fighter as well as slick on the ground, and he’s scored six submissions in seven career victories. If he can land a big shot on Dollaway, he can knock him out, and even if he doesn’t finish him off with punches, he can submit his opponent with a choke. Sarafian’s a big middleweight, and if he can get through the gatekeeper Dollaway, the sky’s the limit for him. Dollaway (12-4) is coming off a decision victory over Jason “Mayhem” Miller at UFC 146. He didn’t look particularly good in the fight, but he managed to use his wrestling and grind out the win. In his UFC career, Dollaway is a mediocre 6-4, and all of his wins have come over guys no longer with the organization. Dollaway’s biggest issue lately has been his chin, as he’s been knocked out in two of his last three fights. It sure seems like the UFC is hoping Sarafian is going to knock out Dollaway in highlight-reel fashion and become the next big star in Brazil, and all signs indicate Dollaway will be finished here. The only way he can win is if he can take Sarafian down and hold him there for 15 minutes. But in Brazil, I don’t think he’ll get the chance to eat the clock like that. Fight Prediction: Dollaway will likely get some takedowns on Sarafian early, but with the Brazil crowd booing and considering Dollaway isn’t very active on the ground, the fight will likely be stood up by the ref.  With enough chances on the feet, Sarafian is going to clip Dollaway and finish him off with strikes, probably in the first or second round. Adam’s Pick: Sarafian via TKO (click for latest MMA odds) Adam’s Recommended Play: I don’t really have much faith in either of these guys, so as far as a bet goes, I’m passing. However, Sarafian should be able to knock out the chinny Dollaway.
