Combate Americas recently held its 50th event in Fresno, California on Friday. Here are the betting results of the fights, as explained by MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas.

Salvador Becerra opened -155 and closed -140
Ignacio Bahamondes opened +125 and closed +120

Becerra put on the pressure and that won him the fight. He lost the third round after Bahamondes woke up and picked up the volume, but Becerra put on a strong pace in the first two rounds to take it. The sportsbooks made a small profit after the public came in light on the underdog.

Caroline Gallardo opened -130 and closed +125
Corina Herrera opened +100 and closed -145

This was a close and competitive fight that both fighters thought they did enough to win, but Gallardo ended up taking a unanimous decision. The sportsbooks won pretty heavy after the betting public flipped the line and came out on the losing end.

Danny Ramirez opened +275 and closed +150
Adrian Guzman opened -425 and closed -180

Round one had this fight on a “Fight of the Year” pace as Guzman put Ramirez on his back foot repeatedly but Ramirez would connect with bombs and hurt him while on the defensive. Both fighters were hurt badly in the first round, but Ramirez started to slow down as the fight wore on, although he was always dangerous with his power. In the end, Guzman took a well-deserved, wild decision. I opened the line way too high on Guzman and the books dodged a bullet because the fight was much closer to its closing odds than the opener. That being said, profited pretty heavily after breathing a sigh of relief.

Paul Elizondo Jr. opened -500 and closed -665
Trevor Wells opened +350 and closed +433

Despite being a massive underdog, Wells won a clear-cut decision over Elizondo Jr., surprising everyone by taking all three rounds. The line was inflated and the betting public missed out on a live dog as most of the action came in on the heavy favorite. The sportsbooks won decent here.

Kaleio Romero opened -200 and closed -220
Israel Delgado opened +150 and closed +180

This was a competitive fight, but Romero did enough to win a decision. The sportsbooks took a small loss as the public came in slightly more on Romero than Delgado.

Steve Bolinger opened -230 and closed -225
Vince Gomez opened +170 and closed +185

Bollinger pulled off an impressive Von Flue choke inside the first minute to prove his favorite status correct. There was two-action on this fight as the sportsbooks broke even.

Celine Haga opened -300 and closed -150
Stephanie Frausto opened +230 and closed +130

Frausto got the job done against an underrated solid veteran in Haga, but no saw it unless they were there live due to technical issues with the live feed. The sportsbooks took a beating on this fight as the public came in heavy on the underdog, who won by second round TKO. This was by far my worst opening line of the night.

Eduardo Perez -200 and closed -145
Chris Lewis opened +150 and closed +125

Perez outworked Lewis over the course of all three rounds. Lewis occasionally had takedowns, but Perez got back to his feet and continued to press the action en route to winning all three rounds. The sportsbooks won solid on this fight as most of the action came in on the underdog.

Overall, the sportsbooks had a great night except for the Frausto fight for Combate Americas 50. That being said, depending on when the lines were opened, they could have experienced a different result. The next Combate event is December 7 in Hidalgo.
