UFC on ESPN Plus 18 took place Saturday, September 28, 2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The card was headlined by a middleweight fight between Dane Jack Hermansson and American Jared Cannonier.

Favorites that Won

Mark Madsen quickly got Danilo Belluardo to the mat and was able to land elbows and punches until the referee stepped in to stop the bout in the opening round. Madsen closed -600 while Belluardo closed +425

Gilbert Burns got the fight he wanted with Gunnar Nelson. He landed the bigger strikes throughout the bout to edge out a decision win. Burns closed -120 while Nelson closed +100

In a back and forth fight, Nicolas Dalby reversed position on the mat in the third round and was able to land some heavy punches on Alex Oliveira to edge out the third round to get the win. Dalby closed -120. Oliveira closed -118

Makhmud Muradov landed with more volume over three rounds to edge out a decision over Alessio Di Chirico in a contest where both guys grew tired in the third round. Muradov closed -167. Di Chirico closed +137

Ismail Naurdiev continually landed his jab throughout the fight, combining kicks from range, and takedowns to win a dominant decision over veteran Lando Vannata. Naurdiev closed -222 while Bahadurzada closed +181

Marc Diakiese set the tone early with leg kicks and then continued to land the bigger, more effective strikes against Lando Vannata to win a clear decision. Diakiese closed -175 with the return on Vannata +146

Jack Shore dominated this bout from start to finish. He was better on the feet, but on the mat it was a complete mismatch. Shore took Nohelin Hernandez to the mat in all three rounds and was able to secure a rear naked choke in the final round forcing Hernandez to tap. Shore closed -222 while Hernandez closed +182

 

Underdogs that Won

Jared Cannonier landed a heavy upper cut in round two that sent Jack Hermansson to the canvas. Cannonier continued with heavy ground and pound on the mat to get the stoppage victory. Cannonier closed +235. Hermansson closed -275

Ion Cutelaba landed some ferocious ground and pound to force Marc Goddard to step in and stop Cutelaba’s bout with Khalil Rountree in the opening round. Cutelaba closed -105 while Rountree closed -114

In a fight where it looked like whomever landed first would win is exactly how it played out. John Phillips dropped Alen Amedovski in an early exchange. Amedovski got back to his feet again and Phillips dropped him again to end the fight in just fourteen seconds. Phillips closed +115. Amedovski closed -137

Giga Chikadze and Brandon Davis found themselves in a competitive striking matchup in which was originally announced as a draw. The scores were recounted and it was determined that Chikadze won by split decision. Chikadze closed +135 with the return on Davis -161

Lina Lansberg was able to get Macy Chiasson to the mat in the final two rounds and control position there to earn a big upset victory by decision. Lansberg closed +334 while Chiasson closed -435
