The next big star of boxing and future pound-for-pound number one Jaron Ennis, the IBF 147 title holder, makes his return to the ring after being out for a year.
What better way to do it than headlining the show from his hometown of Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Arena?
Originally slated to defend his title against Cody Crowley, an injury forced a change to the main event slot as David Avanesyan stepped up on a month’s notice in hopes of spoiling the homecoming parade for “Boots”.
If you are familiar with Ennis’ skillset, then you know just how talented the 27-year-old is. He is the complete package and just has been lacking the promotional backing and at times the activity. Now signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and headlining a massive event at the Wells Fargo Arena, “Boots” Ennis is well-prepared to begin his takeover of the division and possibly the next weight class up.
Avanesyan is a good fighter but he should be target practice for Ennis early on until he eventually wilts to the body work or a clean pinpoint shot on the chin to end it inside six.
Bet: Ennis vs Avanesyan Under 6.5 Rounds (-165)
