Estrada is a legend all around and has made his fame by putting on classics against a who’s who in the lower weight classes. Estrada is a tough, durable, and savvy fighter. My biggest issue with him in this fight is his over a year long layoff and that he is now 34 years old. Age is one of the biggest factors that tends to affect these lower weight class fighters. Coupled with Estrada’s long list of wars he has been in, it is truly tough to trust him against a young and very talented Jesse Rodriguez who has improved every time he steps within the ropes.
I expect Estrada to have his moments of success here and there but, the speed will come into play at some point and allow Rodriguez to gain momentum the longer the fight plays out. Rodriguez is also moving up a weight class and the high-profile moment of this fight I think he routinely plays it safer than usual to secure a decision victory.
