Bet: Deontay Wilder (+130)
Deontay Wilder has one of the most unorthodox fighting styles ever but it works. “The Bronze Bomber” has built a very popular career off turning the lights off of his opponents. Amassing an impressive number of 42 knockouts off of 43 professional wins in his boxing career.
The now 38-year-old former WBC champion is coming off a decision loss to Joseph Parker back in December. A lot of people expected Wilder to do what he does best and knockout his opponent but, Parker was able to take advantage of Wilder’s layoff as he just never adjusted in fight time to catch Parker and build momentum. Plus, Parker’s fighting style of sticking and moving and avoiding all of Wilder’s big shots allowed him a lot of success.
Wilder is making a good turnaround and staying active this weekend. He gets Zhilei Zhang who, in my opinion, has a style that benefits Wilder immensely. He is not going to be moving a lot and frustrating Wilder. Instead, he is a bit of a stationary, flatfooted fighter. He packs big power but so does Wilder. And I think Wilder is the quicker, more agile fighter who will get the better of the exchanges and should pick up a big knockout victory this weekend.
