I am leaning towards Josh Taylor this weekend to pick up a hard-fought decision against a talented lightweight in Teofimo Lopez.
Lopez has put together back-to-back wins since his stunning defeat to Kambosos in late 2021 which saw him lose his lightweight titles. While Taylor is coming off a controversial win over Jack Catterall in February of last year.
Lopez has the speed, athleticism, and ability to win this fight, but it is the tenacity, size, and power of Taylor that should dictate the fight in his favor for him this weekend. Taylor is great once he gets on the inside and pressures his opponent, breaking him down with body work and shots to the head. It will probably be a close fight early on, but Taylor should start getting the edge as the fight goes on once he gets more comfortable and gets Lopez’s timing down.
A decision win for Josh Taylor this weekend is my official pick.
