Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 278 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 278 is a welterweight title rematch between the champ Kamaru Usman and his rival Leon Edwards. These two previously met back in 2015 and Usman won a decision. Since then, Usman has remained unbeaten in the Octagon, while Edwards has not long to anyone else. Both men have leveled up and this should be an excellent rematch. As you would expect, the champion Usman opened up as the betting favorite in this fight. That being said, Edwards is a great fighter in his own right, so don’t count him out of winning either.
- As for the co-main event, it’s an excellent bantamweight bout between top contenders Jose Aldo and Merab Dvalishvili. After losing his first two fights in the weight class, Ado has won his last three fights in a row and he looks like a serious title contender once again. As for Dvalishvili, he lost his first two fights in the UFC before embarking on his current seven-fight win streak. This is an awesome fight and the winner will be very close to title contention at 135lbs. It’s a close fight on paper and that’s why you see the odds being so close here.
