The reigning undisputed junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor will be making his much-anticipated return to defend his titles in the main event on ESPN+.
Nicknamed “The Tartan Tornado” Josh Taylor has established himself as a top pound-for-pound boxer and clearly the best at 140 pounds. His aggressive style coupled with hellacious body work and power shows why he is currently undefeated at 18-0 with two significant wins over Jose Ramirez last May and Regis Prograis in late 2019.
If you take the time to watch highlights of Jack Catterall you will notice he can be very aggressive himself in pursuit of the knockout – having 13 of his 26 wins coming by way of stoppage in his unblemished record. It is a huge step up in competition for the 28-year-old as he is competing against one of the best. He will need to be cautious with his approach as he tries to navigate the waters with his reach disadvantage against the Taylor.
It will take a special fighter to topple the reign that Josh Taylor has built; perhaps a rematch with Prograis this year or agreeing to the tease he has made of moving up to welterweight and challenging someone of the like of Terence Crawford. Taylor will need to be careful himself trying to close the distance as Catterall does pack power, especially with his left. It most likely will start slow for Taylor but, with the accumulation of his body work and aggression he should be able to claim a late finish and defend his titles on home soil.
Prop: Josh Taylor Wins by TKO (-165)
