Edson Barboza really should handle business this weekend in the main event against Giga Chikadze. Barboza is the far better overall fighter and he should have no issue getting the better of the exchanges in the striking department. I think there is some slight worry of Barboza’s ability to continue to perform at peak level but gauging his past few fights I think it is safe to say he is still doing just fine. With little to no threat of a takedown from Chikadze, Barboza will be able to strike comfortably with both his hands and lightning-fast leg kicks.
Chikadze might have some success early on as Barboza may need time to find his groove with timing and distance against the former Glory kickboxer. However, once Barboza settles in and puts it all together he should have no issue taking rounds and getting a decision victory. Barboza can even resort to takedowns and grappling of his own should he need to slow down the pace if he is getting tagged too much on the feet – which makes me more confident in the Barboza moneyline this weekend plus a prop of a decision victory.
