Here’s five UFC Fight Night 94 prop bets that cashed big based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. 1) Johnson by T/KO (+322) TUF 12 finalist Michael Johnson made quick work of Louisiana’s Dustin Poirier, defeating him via knockout at a minute and a half into the opening stanza. It was surely a firefight, as both fighters exchanged, with the Blackzilian product landing the cleaner shots, knocking “The Diamond” down and following up with a few more punches until the referee stepped in to call the action. Having Henry Hooft as his striking coach for this bout certainly worked in his favor, as Johnson’s superior striking was the tale of this one. If you took “The Menace” to win this won via T/KO, then congratulations to you, as you cashed out at a nice +322. 2) Brunson by T/KO (+450) Strikeforce veteran Derek Brunson defeated TUF 18 finalist Uriah Hall via TKO in the early going of the very first round of action, improving his Octagon winning streak to five in a row, with the last four coming via first round T/KO. Brunson started calling for a title shot following the victory, and he will likely get a Top 5 opponent his next time out. Congratulations are due to those who wagered on Brunson to win this fight by T/KO, as it cashed in at a very nice +450. Especially if you tailed the play in my props article for the card, where it was +475. 3) Benitez by Submission (+490) American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) product Gabriel Benitez bounced back into the win column with a second-round guillotine choke submission of TUF: Live veteran Sam Sicilia. The Mexican was getting the better of Sicilia with his striking, especially his leg kicks, and ended the fight with a submission. Those of you who wagered on that oucome cashed out at a very cool +490, so congrats! 4) Brown by Submission (+350) Brooklyn’s Randy Brown appeared to be en route to a big upset loss, after a very close round one and a lopsided round two in favor of his opponent, TUF: Latin America 2 winner Erick Montano. However, Brown capitalized on an early takedown attempt by Montano to start off the third and final stanza, by locking in a high elbow guillotine choke to earn the tapout victory and return to the win column at 170 pounds following the first official defeat of his professional mixed martial arts career. If you wagered on “Rude Boy” to get this victory by submission, then congrats to you, as you broke out with a solid +350 return. 5) Perez/Morales is a Draw (+6500) TUF: Latin America 1 winner Alejandro Perez and undefeated promotional newcomer Albert Morales fought to a controversial draw in an entertaining bantamweight affair that kicked off the UFC Fight Night 94 card in Hidalgo, TX. Perez was deducted one point for an intentional late hit after the bell at the end of round two, but with or without a point deduction, I felt Morales should have gotten the nod there. The point deduction should have put the stamp on his victory, but instead it saved him from losing a fight due to poor judging. He didn’t get the win, but at least Morales has the comfort of knowing he’s still undefeated. If any of you were lucky enough to take a gut shot on this prop, then congratulations are certainly in order. A $100 parlay on these five props would have netted $4,066,988.
