UFC returned for a free cable event on Fox Sports 1 earlier today (Saturday, September 17, 2016). The card was headlined by a lightweight bout between Michael Johnson and Dustin Poirier. All in all, seven favorites won, while four upsets occurred and there was one draw. Here’s how everything played out based on the Several Bookmakers closing odds: Favorites That Won In the co-main event of the evening, Derek Brunson landed a huge right hand on Uriah Hall in a middleweight fight, and the ref jumped in a little early to stop the bout. Brunson was victorious as a -175 (Bet $175 to win $100) favorite while Hall was +165. In a lightweight bout, Evan Dunham dominated Rick Glenn to easily take a unanimous decision. Glenn was undersized and will drop to 145 pounds for his next fight. Bader was the winner as a -325 favorite while Glenn lost at +295. In a lightweight fight, Islam Makhachev earned a unanimous decision over Chris Wade in a very entertaining grappling-centric battle which featured high level scrambles. Makhachev closed at -130 while Wade was a +120 dog. In a featherweight scrap, Chas Skelly destroyed Maximo Blanco, choking Blanco unconscious with an anaconda choke just 19 seconds I to the first roumd. Skelly was a -145 favorite while Blanco was +135. In a welterweight contest, Belal Muhammad got the better of August Montano, eventually finishing the Mexican via TKO due to ground and pound late in the third round. Muhammad was victorious as a -450 favorite while Montano was +400. In a middleweight bout, Antonio Carlos Junior bounced back with a decisive victory over Augusto Leleco. Carlos Junior gained top position in the final two rounds and earned a late submission victory. Carlos Junior was victorious as a -270 favorite while Leleco lost at +248. In a welterweight fight, Randy Brown looked like he was fading against Erick Montana, but he latched onto a guillotine choke and forced a third round submission. Brown won as a -525 favorite while Montano was +450. Underdogs That Won In the main event of the evening, Michael Johnson destroyed Dustin Poirier in the first round with a vicious knockout. Johnson put him out with his first strike then poured it on with follow-up strikes. Johnson was victorious as a +150 underdog (Bet $100 to win $150) while Poirier was -160. In a welterweight fight, Roan Carneiro did just enough to eek out a competitive split decision against Kenny Robertson. Both fighters showcased excellent ground games and both had their moments on the feet but Carneiro did just enough. Carneiro was a +105 dog while Robertson was a -115 favorite. In a featherweight fight, Gabriel Benitez got the better of Sam Sicilia on the feet before locking in a guillotine choke to earn a submission victory. Benitez won as a slight -105 underdog while Sicilia was -115. In a bantamweight bout, Jose Quinonez got the better of Joey Gomez in a fast-paced slugfest on the feet. Both men were hit by big shots, but Quinonez walked away with a unanimous decision. Quinonez won as a +130 underdog while Gomez was -140. Draws In a bantamweight bout, Albert Morales seemingly had the decision in the bag after being the aggressor for three rounds and having a point deducted from opponent Alejandro Perez, but the judges ruled the bout a majority draw. Both fighters closed at pick’em -105.
