I could also foresee a scenario where Georges St. Pierre returns to fight Woodley, leaving Maia and Thompson fighting to take on the winner of that potential title fight. Noteworthy Submission(s): – Anthony “Showtime” Pettis” defeated Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira via third round guillotine choke submission in what was surely the runner up for the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. Jim Miller and Joe Lauzon earn Fight of the Night honors for their three round war to kick off the main card for UFC on FOX 20 in Vancouver. They have now engaged in six entertaining rounds of action that have resulted in two ‘Fight of the Night’ bonuses, not to mention a ‘Fight of the Year’ for their first bout. After three back and forth entertaining rounds, the judges’ at Octagon-side gave Miller the fight via split decision. It was a razor thin call that most felt should have gone to Lauzon due to ending rounds in top control, but two of the three cage-side judges felt Miller’s effectiveness on the feet and his shutting down of Lauzon’s offense off his back warranted him the nod.
