John Lineker was last seen as a -175 ($175 to win $100) betting favorite over Michael “May Day” McDonald at Several Bookmakerss, and McDonald in return was a +155 ($100 to win $155) underdog to win. However, since this bout has been promoted to main event of UFC Fight Night 91 and has gone from a three rounder to a five round fight, sportsbooks have pulled the contest from the boards. When the bantamweight match-up was scheduled for three rounds, Lineker opened as a -150 betting favorite at the sportsbooks. Public action elevated him to -175. Following the current shake-up, I am unsure of what the opening odds for this now-five round affair will be. A year ago, I would have said the two extra rounds favor McDonald, despite his two-year absence from the cage. Now, after seeing much improved cardio from Lineker in his latest Octagon outing against Rob Font, I don’t think that is the case. Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa were originally scheduled to square off in the main event of the evening, but a back injury forced Chiesa out of the contest, forcing the shake-up on the card. Ferguson will remain on the card and will take on undefeated promotional newcomer Landon Vannata, who trains out of Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, NM.
