MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 89 welterweight Stephen Thompson as he prepares for his upcoming main event this Saturday night (June 18, 2016) against Rory MacDonald at the TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Canada.
The incredibly talented striker realizes he has a very difficult match-up ahead of him, perhaps even more difficult than if he had earned a title shot after beating Hendricks:
“Me fighting Rory is a scary match-up for me. He’s the best, most well-rounded fighter I’ve faced so far. He’s dangerous and that’s why he’s been on the top of the game for a long time… After that Hendricks fight, I could have been fighting for the title, but now I’m facing one of the scariest guys in the division. He’s very well-rounded. For me, for my style, Robbie Lawler would be easier. He’s tough and he just beats people with will. He was staggered, dazed, but he just spits the blood out, gets this look on his face and he just breaks their will.”
