MMA Odds and Ends For Wednesday: MacDonald vs. Ellenberger Booked For UFC On FOX 8

Rory MacDonald The UFC has booked a fantastic welterweight bout for this coming summer. According to Spencer Kyte of Keyboard Kimura, the UFC has added a welterweight bout between top contenders Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger to the upcoming UFC on FOX 8 card, which takes place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle, WA. The fight will most likely take place on the evening’s main card, although it’s unknown if it’s the main event or if it will be a supporting bout. Regardless, this is a huge matchup in the 170-pound division, and the winner will emerge as a legitimate title threat to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (who also happens to be MacDonald’s teammate at TriStar gym in Montreal.) MacDonald (14-6) has won four-straight fights in the Octagon. In his last outing at UFC on FOX 5 (which also took place in Seattle), MacDonald won a decisive decision over UFC legend BJ Penn. As for Ellenberger (29-6), he recently fought at UFC 158 and knocked out veteran Nate Marquardt in the first round of their match. MacDonald was also set to fight at UFC 158 against Carlos Condit, but after suffering a neck and back injury in training he was removed from the card and Johny Hendricks, who was Ellenberger’s original opponent, moved up to fight MacDonald. The fight between Ellenberger and MacDonald figures to be one of the most highly-anticipated matches of the summer. Both men have been absolutely sensational in the Octagon, with Ellenberger going 8-2 in the UFC and MacDonald 5-1. Both men, ironically, both received their first UFC loss at the hands of Condit. This is going to be a very competitive fight and the betting odds will indicate that once they are released, but expect MacDonald to open as a slight favorite, possibly in the vicinity of -130, with Ellenberger possibly opening at even money. Full TUF 17 Betting Lines Released MMA oddsbreaker Nick Kalikas today released the full TUF 17 FinaleĀ betting lines through Several Bookmakers. The most popular line will of course be in the finals of the welterweight tournament between Uriah Hall and Kelvin Gastelum. Currently, Hall is sitting as a massive -370 favorite (bet $370 to win $100), with Gastelum currently a +280 underdog (bet $100 to win $280). Hall, of course, had a vicious KO via spinning hook kick via Adam Cella that went viral on the internet so it’s not surprising the public has been all over him since the line was opened. As for Gastelum, he looked ultra-impressive as well, but the public hasn’t given him any respect at all. This should be a very fun fight card on Saturday night, so stay tuned to MMAoddsbreaker.com all week for all of your betting coverage for the TUF 17 Finale.
